Mohan, while giving the reference of Dr Narendra Dabholkar and his movement against black magic and superstitions, said that he had spent his entire life spreading awareness among the masses against these kinds of activities and no leniency should be shown to such people who take the advantage of people.

As per the prosecution, Devdhar’s husband was suffering from Parkinson’s ailment since six years and Devdhar came in contact with Godse in 2009, who claimed herself to be a ‘Godwoman’. Godse promised that by performing some black magic and rituals, she can cure his ailment and even claimed to possess supernatural powers.

By promising the cure, she started demanding money from Devdhar from time to time and between May 13, 2009 and September 7, 2009, Godse managed to take Rs1,39,01,000 from Devdhar.

However, as her tactics did not work, the complainant started demanding the money back from her.

The convict then handed over two cheques of Rs40 lakh and one cheque of Rs20 lakh to her. However, all the cheques got bounced, and  Devdhar lodged a complaint with Kothrud police station.
