Pune: It was the early morning of Sunday, when most of the countrymen were in deep sleep, history was being created at the Makalu Mountain on Nepal-Tibetan border where the members of Pune-based Giri Premi organisation hoisted the national flag, after conquering fifth highest mountain in the world. With this achievement, members of the organisation claimed that Giri Premi has became the only organisation in the country to climb three mountains which are more than 8,000 metres high.

Last year, members of the same organisation had hoisted national flag at the Everest and Lhotse. Anand Mali and Ashish Mane are the two heroes of Giri Premi, who successfully reached the summit in second attempt. On May 17, bad weather forced both of them to returned to the base when Makalu’s highest point was only 150 metres from them. Although, exhausted mentally and physically, they stood up again with firm determination to complete the mission and conquering the fifth-most highest peak on the earth.

“Any mountain peak above 8000 metres is declared as death zone because of meager oxygen availability. But, nothing is impossible if you are passionate about something,” said Anand Palande, Founder and President of Giri Premi.
