Free surgery for heaviest person in Maharashtra!

To mark the world anti-obesity day on November 26, Laparo-Obeso Centre in association with Defeat Obesity & Diabetes Foundation is planning to offer free bariatrics surgery for the heaviest person in Maharashtra.

Bariatrics surgeon Dr Shashank Shaha, founder of the organisation, has come up with the proposal to create awareness about obesity and diabetes.

The Laparo-Obeso Centre has invited all the patients treated by Dr Shah on Monday evening. Dr Shah’s patient Padmashree Dr D Y Patil and minister Patangrao Kadam will also be present at the occasion.

Dr Shah has performed similar surgeries on the heaviest patient in Asia (390 Kgs) and seven-and-half-year old patient. He has also offered to provide free consultation to first 100 patients, who would be attending the event at Krushnasundar Garden in Mhatre Bridge on Monday. Celebrity chef Parag Kanhere would provide information about low calorie cooking.

Adolescent obesity
Taking into account the increasing obesity among the children at an adolescent age, first adolescent obesity clinic will be launched during the programme. Dr Shah informed that obesity and diabetes are growing exponentially and India is becoming the world capital of diabetes.
