Are you fed up of doing rounds to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to get your work done? Here is a good news for you.

The civic body has decided to bring in a whole new change in the e-governance system. PMC authorities have principally approved to replicate the e-governance system of the neighbouring Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) which has been acclaimed at the national level.

If the PMC successfully replicates PCMC’s e-governance system, it will be easier for citizens to get birth and death certificates, make various bill payments, etc. The PMC authorities have also suggested that along with present services, it should also start providing other services like issuing domicile certificates, income proof through citizens felicitation centres of PMC once the e-governance system is revamped.

After the PCMC’s e-governance project was recognised at the national level and even Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar praised the project, the civic administration of PMC had tabled a proposal to get its age-old e-governance system on track by appointing the same agency which is implementing the e-governance project in PCMC.

A team of elected members of PMC visited the PCMC building on Monday to study the e-governance system of the twin town and not surprisingly, they were impressed.

Vishal Tambe, standing committee chairman of PMC said, “Earlier, there were some doubts about the e-governance project in the minds of some of the elected representatives, but once we saw the system of PCMC, all the elected representatives were happy with the system and we have principally approved to replicate the same in PMC.”

“The system is in place. We need to bring some changes which will take three to four months. Once the improved e-governance system is made operational, all the departments will be connected through e-governance and we can start more citizen friendly services,” he added.
