FC admission racket: Deccan police nab tout

The Deccan Gymkhana police have arrested a 22-year-old youth who had allegedly duped three girl students to the tune of Rs1 lakh on the pretext of giving admission in Fergusson College for MSc course.

One Ritika Deshmukh (21) of Ambegaon had filed a complaint with Deccan Gymkhana police station against two suspects who had identified themselves as Ganesh Bankar and Parag Jagtap.

The police are yet to arrest his accomplice.

dna had highlighted several cases of admission touts cheating students and their parents and this particular case was highlighted on October 18.

As per the complaint by Deshmukh, she and her two friends Neha Borse and Aditi Rathod had applied for admission in Fergusson College for MSc course, however they did not get through.

“Ganesh had met these three girls and promised to get them admission through the management quota by using his contacts in the college. He took Rs1 lakh from each of them before absconding with Jagtap, his acolyte in the crime,” said Deccan Gymkhana police station inspector Manohar Joshi.

On a tip-off, police naik Mahesh Nimbalkar nabbed Ganesh in Kothrud area on Tuesday. Ganesh confessed to having taken money from the three girls.
