PUNE: A grainy footage of two motorcycle riding youths allegedly believed to be the planters of the bomb that went off in front of Faraskhana Police station on July 10 went viral on WhatsApp on Thursday. While no senior police officers are acknowledging it yet, sources from Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and city crime branch confirmed to dna that the footage indeed is related to the blast.
One of the crime branch officers said the footage had been obtained from one of the CCTV cameras placed near Bank of Maharashtra on Bajirao Road on the same day of the incident. The footage clearly shows the timing cycle and the date of the incident.
According to the investigators from the ATS, the planters had parked their bike at 6.45 am in the parking lot of Faraskhana and Vishrambaug Police Station, that is placed very close to Pune's famous Dagdusheth Halvai Ganpati. Five persons including a policeman was injured when a low intensity blast took place at 2 .02 pm last Thursday.
On the basis of their appearance of the riders, the police have prepared a sketch and investigation is on to find out who could be behind the blast. While the rider can be seen pretty clearly, the image of the pillion rider is unclear. From the image, it seems that the planters were wearing white shirt and black pants.
