Diamonds worth 26.35 lakh stolen by the store supervisor in Pune

A 34-year-old supervisor working at diamond showroom in a mall situated at Wadgoansheri has been booked by police for allegedly stealing 57 diamond ornaments estimated to be worth Rs 26.35 lakh. The booked supervisor has been identified as Ashwin Solanki, 34, a resident of Yerwada. The incident came to light, when the Mumbai-based diamond company’s Maharashtra manager Sarfaraj Qureshi, 32, had lodged a complaint against Solanki under the relevant sections of the IPC.
SA Patil, inspector at Yerwada police station, said, “In the past also Solanki had tried to steal a ring. He had taken leave for two days. During the audit, the complainant found jewellery missing. The CCTV also caught him. By the time the police reached his residence he had fled.
