Deccan Express passengers perform puja

More than 1,000 daily pass holders of Deccan Express held a special Satyanarayan puja on their way to Pune from Mumbai on Monday.

Moreover, they also decorated the sixth coach of the train with flowers and distributed sweets to the fellow passengers.
The daily pass holders have been following this tradition for a long time where they conduct a puja on a Monday in the Hindu month of Shravan.

Prakash Bharane (44), a businessman, said, “For the past 12 years, I have been travelling in this train and all of us have got an emotional bond with it. There were many who boarded the train today just to attend the special prayer.”

Nagesh Mashke (39), a resident of Navi Mumbai working in a courier company in Pune, said, “I have been travelling in this train for the past 10 years. We held a special prayer to keep us safe and sound while we travel in this train.”

Some passengers even carried special homemade delicacies prepared specially for the occasion and distributed it among the fellow passengers.

Rupesh Chandwani (30), a businessman from Ulhasnagar, said, “For the past five years, I have been travelling in this train. My business has flourished a lot and therefore I had prepared special food for my fellow pass holders. This train has been extremely lucky for me.”
