Parents of the students studying in standard XII of Sri Parshurambhau College are a worried lot.
Even as the board examinations are round the corner, they lamented that the students are confused whether they are not sure whether they will be able to fill the examination forms.

Their anxiousness grew after the news of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education cancelling the affiliation of SP College over the latter’s lackadaisical approach of taking action against a student started doing rounds.

The student belonged to the last academic year batch and had forged his percentage in the mark sheet but college failed to file a police complaint despite repeated reminders from the board, prompting the latter to cancel index code of the college.

More than 50 worried parents rushed to SP College after reading the news.

Meanwhile, the college authorities turned into damage control mode on Thursday morning and put up notice boards all over the campus and appealed to the students and their parents not to panic.

The college authorities promised that the academic year of the students will not be ruined.
“After receiving the news, we rushed to the college, where we met the supervisor who told us that the college will resolve the matter soon,” said Shantanu Pendharkar, one of the parents.
He added that the parents have decided not to approach anybody and have decided to wait till Monday.

“We will chalk out our strategy after Saturday, however, we are sure that the management of SP will come out with some final resolution and the students’ fate will not be in limbo,” said Pendharkar.

Shubhangi Yargop, another parent of a student from Class XII (science) said, “This is a crucial time for the students as the exams are round the corner. The news has panicked them and they have not been able to concentrate on the studies,” she said.

ABVP protests
Meantime, the members from the ABVP today staged a protest in front of the divisional board office in Shivajinagar and demanded that students cannot be held hostage
