Date gets President's medal for 3rd time

Inspector General of Police Sadanand Date hailing from Pune and working as joint commissioner of police (law and order) with Mumbai Police has been selected for President’s Police Medal for distinguished service.

He has been the recipient of President’s Police Medal for meritorious service in 2007 and was awarded the medal again for gallantry for his fight against Ajmal Kasab and Ismail during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks at Cama Hospital in Mumbai.

Date, an IPS from 1990 batch, studied with Sushilabai Virkar High School and Perugate Bhave High School. He did his commerce graduation from Modern College and is also ICWA. He did his PhD under the guidance of Dr Ashok Joshi. 

Speaking to dna, Date said, “I was happy to receive a phone call from my tenth class teacher in Bhave School. Sri. Ba. Kulkarni Sir congratulating me and this kind of pat on the back gives satisfaction.” 

Date said, “It is an honour to receive President’s medal but it is a reminder that we have to commit ourselves for public service. I remember the contribution of all my seniors who guided me while performing my duties.”
