The curfew in Rawer town of Jalgaon district has been extended by another 24 hours, as the situation there still remains tense but under control.

The police have arrested 15 more on Wednesday, after 33 were arrested till Tuesday night. Five others have been booked for violating curfew orders.

The curfew, which has been extended further, will be relaxed from 10 am to 12 noon on Thursday for the convenience of the people, police said.

After much deliberation, the police has given permission for the Datta Jayanti rath yatra, which is being held in town on December 29. The yatra festivities are to be conducted between 11 am to 5 pm on the said day. Permission has been given for the palkhi on Sunday as well. The recurring riots in the Rawer, which was once known as ‘banana town’ for its agricultural produce, has now been tainted as a ‘riot town’ after this incident breaking out just months after a

similar occurrence during Ganeshotsav.
