Contractor abducted for Rs1 crore ransom, rescued by Pune rural police

A Talegaon Dabhade-based labour contractor of national repute was abducted for a ransom of Rs1 crore on Thursday. However, the Pune rural police rescued him and nabbed two suspects.

The victim was missing since 10 pm on Thursday from his office, Shivani Enterprises located in Dnyaneshwarnagar at Talegaon Dabhade. According to the police, the contractor, Arunkumar Prasad Mishra, a resident of Nikhil Heights, reached the office at 12 noon on Thursday, but did not return home at the expected time. The office closes at 10 pm and he used to return home immediately after that, a routine followed rigorously by him, the police said.

After he went missing, one of his family members received a phone call from a person who said he had abducted the contractor and demanded Rs1 crore for his release.  

However, a Pune rural police team tracked down the three suspects in Mumbai and arrested two of them. They then rescued the victim. 

Superintendent of police (Pune rural) Manoj Lohiya said that the suspects had abducted Mishra after a dispute over a financial deal. 

“Our police team has nabbed two suspects and will soon arrest the third one, who is at large,” the police officer  added.
