Collegian held for faking girl’s profile online in Nashik

A college going boy has been arrested in Nashik for posting a fake account of a girl on a social networking site and sending malicious messages through it.
The Nashik police arrested Pankaj Lakariya on Sunday in this regard after two months of investigations.

Lakariya had posted her mother’s cell number on the site, following which she received many obscene phone calls. It was then that the girl lodged a complaint with the Deolali police. Lakariya is a resident of Sainik Vihar in Deolali Camp and a student of ITI, while the girl is a resident of Bhagur.

“Such cases of defamation of women through social networking sites are increasing. Investigations take some time, but the culprit can be traced in almost all cases,” said a police source.
