PUNE: Altough it is officially the dry Summer Pune usually expects, there are rainy days ahead for Puneites. After experiencing hot days in early April, India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials have predicted rains in Pune and other parts of the state in next couple of days.
Citizens got glimpse of rain on Sunday as some parts of the city witnessed few spells of rains in Peth areas, Kothrud, Bavdhan and Hadapsar area. Not just Pune but other parts of state including Mahabaleshwar, Kolhapur and parts of Marathwada also witnessed rainfall activity on Sunday.
IMD officials said, " There is wind discontinuity from Chhattisgarh to the southern parts of the country due to which parts of Maharashtra including Central Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada is witnessing rainfall. Due to the rainfall activity, there has been decrease in the temperature but the humidity has been increased."
On Sunday, Pune recorded maximum temperature of 37.3 degree Celsius while minimum temperature was 20.9 degree Celsius. IMD experts have predicted that similar weather conditions are likely to remain for next couple of days. " The wind discontinuity will remain for next couple of days due to which some parts of the state including parts of Pune are likely to witnessed rains and thundershowers in next couple of days," IMD experts said.
