Parking of vehicles is taking most of the share of the road width and causing traffic congestion. A multilayer parking for two-wheelers can be an answer to this problem. Sky elevators company has set up a multi-level parking system at the Pune police commissionerate on experimental basis which was inaugurated on Thursday.

Pune police commissioner Gulabrao Pol inaugurated the multilayer parking system for two-wheelers. The system has been put in place by Sky Elevators Private Limited, a part of city based Universal group. Its managing director Rahul Karne said the two wheeler system called Parkol has been installed on an experimental basis at the commissioner’s office since the past two months. The ground plus one concept doubles the parking space, he added.

The second is a mechanised multi-level parking system that can go up to six or eight layers and can be customised according to the availability of space. Pune police commissioner Gulabrao Pol has called for exploring the potential of technology, especially for parking in the city areas which, according to him, should be aimed at decongesting the city and optimum utlisation of available parking space.

Parkol is a standalone structure ready to use and can be made operational within half an hour at the site by providing electrical connection. No operator is required and two push buttons are provided for up and down operations. The user can park the vehicle on the platform and push up the button and in the same way can bring the two wheeler down using the push down button.
