Chain snatchings: 17 hours, 8 victims, Rs 6 lakh gone

As many as eight chain snatching incidents were reported in the city between 5.45 pm on Tuesday and 10 am on Wednesday.

As many as eight chain snatching incidents were reported in the city between 5.45 pm on Tuesday and 10 am on Wednesday. Jewellery worth Rs6,05,000 was stolen in these incidents. Three of the victims were senior citizens.

Hadapsar: Rs 60K
Sangita Ramesh Shevale (35), a housemaid, was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs60,000 at Hadapsar around 5.45 pm on Tuesday. Senior police inspector Satish Chavan from Hadapsar police station said, “Sangita had got her gold chain repaired moments before the incident.”

Wanavdi: Rs 1.6L
Mangla Ashok Bankar (54), a resident of Guruwar Peth, was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs1,60,000 at Wanavdi around 8.30 am on Wednesday. The Wanavdi police said that Mangla was in Wanavdi to meet her friend when the incident took place.

Mukundnagar: Rs 20K
Aruna Harishchandra Dhavle (50), was robbed of her chain worth Rs20,000 near Kendriya Lok Nirman Vibhag office in Mukundnagar. Senior police inspector Anil Koli from Swargate police station said, “Dhavle was returning home from a temple at Bhilare Vasti at the time of the incident.”

Narayan Peth: Rs 1.2L
Sunanda Kailash Thite (52), a school teacher living in Narayan Peth was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs1,25,000 around 8.45 am on Wednesday. Senior police inspector Atul Lambe said, “Thite was returning home after a function at her school when she was robbed near Kirtiraj General Store in Narayan Peth.

Kalyaninagar: Rs 40K
Lila Padmanabhan (67), a resident of Neptune Society in Kalyaninagar, was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs40,000 at 9.20 am on Wednesday. Senior police inspector Sitaram Dubal from Yerawada police station said, “Lila was returning home after shopping when she was robbed near Kalyaninagar branch of ICICI bank.”

Dhankavdi: Rs 60K
Shakuntala Goraknath Zijad (61), a resident of Panchavati Society in Dhankavdi was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs60,000 at 9.35 am on Wednesday. Senior police inspector Navnath Rupvate from Sahakarnagar police station said Shakuntala had stepped out to throw garbage when she was robbed.

Swargate: Rs 1.4L
Dhanshri Dhanjay Inamdar (59), a resident of Hari Vijay Society was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs1,40,000 around 9 am on Wednesday. Senior police inspector Deepak Nikam from Swargate police station said that Inamdar was returning home after buying sweets from Shrinath Sweet Mart near her house when the incident took place.

Swargate: Rs 50K
Baswanta Pannalal Chordiya (70) was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs50,000 near Mahavir Prathistan in Salusbury Park around 10 am on Wednesday. The Swargate police said that Chordiya was with her friend when the incident took place near Mahavir Partishtan.
