The chain snatching incident came to light, after the next door neighbor Ajay Jagtap informed the family and alerted the police. A case of robbery has been registered with Chaturshrugi police station by Hemant Vasant Shivarkar (47), a online trader and a resident of Satyam building in Shivam Complex, Sangamwadi, Pashan.
Inspector in-charge of Chaturshrugi police station, Arun Sawant said, “The incident took place on Sunday around 5 pm when victim Vijaya (80) was watching television at her resident. Shivarkars had kept their house door open and the duo entered the house and snatched the chain. Jagtap noticed the chain-snatchers move and alerted us, but fled away before we reached the spot.”
Sawant further added, “Jagtap claimed the duo chain-snatchers had approached his house first by ringing the door bell, but seeing a male member open the door the duo apologized on knocking a wrong door. There next target was an open door house of Shivarkars, where they snatched the chain of the senior citizen and ran.” Sawant said that they are preparing sketches of the chain snatchers and soon they shall nab them.
