CBI team inspects Dr Narendra Dabholkar murder spot

Pune: A month after the Bombay High Court transferred the murder probe of anti-superstition activist Dr Narendra Dabohlkar to CBI, a special Mumbai crime branch squad inspected the spot of murder and also met the city police officer who was investigating the murder. Later they visited the Deccan Gymkhana police station where the murder case was reported.

Dr Dabohlkar was shot to death by two unidentified motorcycle-borne persons at Omkareshwar bridge on August 20, 2013. The incident took place when Dabohlkar was on his way to a morning walk around 7 am. CBI has also lodged a fresh First Information Report against an unidentified person in Mumbai.
A senior officer said, “Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have formed a special team from Crime Branch, Mumbai unit. The case is being investigated under the guidance of CBI Superintendent Ramesh Gir and inspector R G Rajbhar. They came to city police crime branch and interacted with former investigative officers and other officers who are handling the case and later in evening they inspected the sight where Dabholkar was murdered and had formal chats with policemen who were present at spot when the crime took place.”
