Cabbie robbed of car, cash, phone worth Rs6 lakh

Three unidentified persons allegedly looted a private tour company’s driver and fled with his Swift car totally valued at Rs6.07 lakh in the wee hours of Wednesday on Mumbai-Bangalore highway in Ambegaon. 

The incident took place when the car driver Ganesh Maruti Ragade (26), who had dropped the tourists at Ambegaon and was sleeping in the car. 

Investigating officer and sub inspector Rajaram Shirsagar of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, said, “Ragade dropped the passengers from to Mumbai to Ambegaon. On his way home, he felt tired and hence parked his car on the road side in front of Chowdhary showroom and slept off in the car.”

He added, “At 2.30 am, three unidentified persons came on a motorcycle. One suspect stood near the motorcycle while the other two held a knife at Ragade. They robbed him of Rs6,000 cash and cellphone. While the robbers took Ragade in the car, he managed to jump from it while it was moving. The robbers went towards Katraj.” A few days ago, a BPO cabbie was looted at knifepoint of his car.
