At a time when the size of a mobile is getting increasingly bigger and that of a personal computer is getting increasingly smaller thereby giving birth to tablet phones/computers, it comes as a relief to see the launch of a cost-efficient ultra-mobile and durable tablet PC, named IRA, by BSNL and Wishtel.

The recently launched Triple Play 7-inch Tablet PC, IRA is a 800X480 pixel full angle TFT LCD capacitive multi-touch screen that runs on Android 4.0 with a 1.2 GHz processor, powered by a built-in sim card from BSNL. The device is slim and light consisting of features like that of data downloads, Wi-Fi and in-built stereo speakers and a microphone.

Elaborating about the product at its launch in the city, Milind Shah, CEO of Wishtel, said, “With our partnership with India’s largest PSU telecom operator, BSNL, for the launch of this product, we look to offer enhanced technologies that help Android business users experience the performance and productivity offered by PC tablet PCs. Everyone who depends on high performance mobile workforces, can benefit from this product.”

The Wishtel IRA comes in two different forms – one, which is bundled with a 2G SIM compatible component and the other with a 3G one, costing about Rs6,000 and Rs 0,000 respectively. For the first six months, the users of the tablet PCs, especially that of the 3G SIM ones, will be provided with half-a-GB free usage, for every month and 300-minutes of free talk time. The device comes with a full complement of ports, including USB, SD Card, audio and HD video, 0.3 MP front web camera and 2.0 MP rear-facing documentation camera.
