The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Pune crime branch arrested two persons for allegedly supplying brown sugar worth Rs 4.50 lakh at Nigdi flyover on Thursday night. The ANC recovered 2.70 gram brown sugar from the suspects who have been identified as Dinesh Nayar (31) and Marudraj Devendra, both residents of Sion in Mumbai.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by senior police inspector Sunil Tambe and police sub-inspector Vinod Patil laid a trap on the bridge and arrested the duo. The ANC suspects that the duo may have been supplying the drugs to city-based agents and from there to college students. “After interrogating the suspects, we will be able to establish a further link in the case. We will find out if they were supplying the drugs in the city,” Tambe said.
