Bikers snatch gold chains worth Rs2.22 lakh in 2 days

Three chain snatching incidents have been reported in the city in the last two days. In all, the suspects fled with total booty worth Rs2.22 lakh. The incidents were reported at Sahakarnagar, Chinchwad and Wanavdi areas on Friday and Saturday.

Three chain snatching incidents have been reported in the city in the last two days. In all, the suspects fled with total booty worth Rs2.22 lakh. The incidents were reported at Sahakarnagar, Chinchwad and Wanavdi areas on Friday and Saturday.

The police have already confessed that it has become a mammoth task for them to curb chain snatching incidents in Pune.

The common thread in the three cases was that the unidentified motorcyclists came and snatched gold chains and quickly fled from the spot.

In the first incident, Kanchan Jayawant Patil (28) lodged a complaint against two unidentified persons saying that they came on a motorcycle and sped away with her mangalsutra worth Rs1.5 lakh on Saturday morning at Samrtha Colony, Chinchwad. The Chinchwad police are probing the case.

In the second case, two unidentified persons came on motorcycles and snatched a gold chain worth Rs52,000 from Jyoti Chandrakant Sonawane on Saturday morning. Jyoti lodged a complaint against two persons with the Wanavdi police. She was going with her brother and mother when the incident took place.

In the third incident too,  two unidentified bikers persons came on motorcycle and snatched her Rs 20,000 worth gold chain on Friday night snatched a gold chain worth Rs20,000 from 27-year-old Radhika Rajenrda Birla on Friday night in Sahakarnagar.
