Auto drivers refusing to carry passengers will face RTO music

Transport dept will carry out a special drive from next week, says Yeola

Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) will start a special drive against the auto rickshaw drivers, who refuse to take passengers and those who charge extra money. RTO officer says that they have increased the first stage rate hoping that the number of refusals would come down. However, they have received several complaints on the issue and department will take immediate action. On an average the Pune RTO receives five to six calls each day apart from e-mails and posts.

Regional Transport Officer, Arun Yeola said, “The number of refusals are not coming down even after we increased the first stage fare. Therefore, we have decided to a start special drive from next week.”

Yeola further added, “We will be conducting special drive on regular basis. Dummy passengers will catch hold of auto driver who refuse to ply or charge excess money.”
