Pune: PuneVotes.com, a unique electoral portal that is Pune's only library of unbiased information on its politicians, is ready for the general elections this year. The portal features exclusive interviews, manifestos, questions asked and bills passed, comments made, promise kept/broken and updated information of all candidates contesting the Pune Lok Sabha constituency this year.
"The decision of choice is for the voter to make. In our political theatre where information is either managed or missing, we provide the unbiased version necessary for people to get their objectivity back and cross-check claims versus performance. The project is being executed in Pune with the support of National Society for Clean Cities (NSCC), Pune which has an exemplary track record of engaging with the city to catalyse a clean environment and clean governance," said Vivek Gilani, Ashoka Fellow and founder of the Informed Voter Project.
NSCC president Satish Khot said, "NSCC Pune has been in the forefront for over 20 years of raising awareness of election process, of candidates and their manifestos, of voter registration and getting the vote out, etc. PuneVotes is the next step in our campaign of getting people to be selective and make an informed choice. The large number of young first-time voters, who are computer savvy, will find the PuneVotes portal very useful."
The portal uses a detailed audit methodology for its reports. This includes 8300 plus newspaper articles, election manifestos, video interviews and data sourced from reliable sources such as loksabha.nic.in, eci.gov.in, PRSIndia.org and ADRIndia.org among others.
