Alleging that the medical officer of health of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Dr ST Pardeshi is not acting on the complaint against Pune-based astrologer, under Pre- Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, a Sangamner-based activist has filed a case against the medical officer, astrologer and two others at the Sangamner court.

In his petition, the activist Ganesh Borhade has said that he sent a complaint regarding an article published in a monthly magazine which is run by astrologer Adinath Salvi. The article stated that if a couple chanted a particular mantra for 108 times, then they will be blessed with a baby boy which Borhade alleged is against PCPNDT Act.

Borhade said,”I have filed a case against MOH Pardeshi, Dr Sanjeev Wavre from PMC, astrologer Adinath Salvi and Nanasaheb Konde. In August, I got hold of the magazine at the Sangamner bus stand. Such an article is a breach of PCPNDT Act.”

“Inspite of filing complaints, Dr Pardeshi and Dr Wavre did not take any action against Salvi and Konde. I sent a notice on October 28, but even after that Pardeshi and Wavre did not take any action. I have filed a petition demanding action against all four people.”

dna tried contacting Pardeshi but he was not available for comment.
