8 killed, 2 injured in head-on mishap on state highway

Eight people were killed and two others injured when a SUV and a container collided head-on on Manmad – Malegaon state highway at noon on Saturday.

A family from Halai village, Dhar, Madhya Pradesh was on its way to Shirdi in their new Scorpio when it collided with a container moving in the opposite direction, near Mhasoba Temple, Kundalgaon Shivar, 7 km from Manmad on Manmad-Malegaon road.

Eight people, including 3 men, four women and a 5-year-old boy were killed on the spot and two persons were injured. The impact of the collision was so much that the Scorpio got crushed under the container and had to be pulled out with the help of machines. 

Local villagers and the police sent the injured and the deceased to the sub district hospital at Manmad.

The deceased were identified as Sharadrao Thakur, Dr Kuldip Thakur, Dr Sanjivani Thakur, Nirmala Thakur, Rajnandini Thakur, Kanchan Woskel, Shree Woskel and Ompal Thakur. The injured were identified as Rahul Thakur and Jamana Thakur.
