4 people hurt in E-way mishaps

Four persons sustained serious injuries in two accidents on the Pune-Mumbai expressway that took place within a span of 24 hours.

The 93-km expressway has already witnessed 18 fatal accidents with 34 deaths and 85 people suffering serious injuries reported till September 2013.

One of these accidents took place near Kiwale Phata around 11 pm on Tuesday where three people sustained serious injuries. The persons have been identified as Nivrutti Gore (36), Nagesh Gore (36) and Abasaheb Khore (33) of Solapur.

According to the Dehu Road police, the three injured persons were travelling in a car from Mumbai towards Solapur on Tuesday night when the accident took place. The car driver lost control of the vehicle when it reached near Kiwale Phata towards the end of the expressway and hit the fencing wall. The three occupants sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a private hospital.

The second mishap took place near Khandala area around 6 am on Wednesday. According to the highway police, the car driver (whose identity is not known) lost control of his vehicle near Khandala as a result of which his car toppled and he sustained injuries.
