3 booked for duping man of Rs16.5 L

A 44-year-old businessman was allegedly duped of Rs16.50 lakh by three persons, who gave him a promise to get lucrative returns if he invested the amount in their finance scheme.A complaint in this regard has been lodged by the victim Sunil Sahebrao Sawane of Tingrenagar, Vishrantwadi.

The accused have been identified as Sunil Shirole of Karvenagar, VS Nalawade and Ankush Kale of Ambegaon Khurd, Haveli. They have been booked by the police.According to the police, the accused used to tell people that they sold agricultural products across the country and exported to foreign companies as well.

“The three accused had told Sunil that if he invested Rs25 lakh with them for two months, they would return Rs3 crore. Following which, Sunil had invested Rs 16.50 lakh in their scheme. After two months, when he started demanding his money, the suspects closed their office and did not respond to his calls. Later, he lodged complaint with us. Our investigations are on,” assistant police inspector DV Tambe of Koregaon Park police station said.
