Hazare spoke to media persons and opined that it was wrong on the part of various luminaries and Parliamentarians to expect leniency towards Dutt

Social worker Anna Hazare on Saturday said that Sanjay Dutt should abide by the Supreme Court verdict and undergo the punishment as per the court order.

Before attending a function to mark the launch of the silver jubilee year of the family court in Pune, Hazare spoke to media persons and opined that it was wrong on the part of various luminaries and parliamentarians to expect leniency towards Dutt. Hazare said that Dutt was convicted by the court and he should be ready to face the punishment.

When asked about opinions expressed by various parliamentarians and luminaries they should re-think Dutt's punishment, Hazare said, "The court's verdict is the final word in this regard and parliamentarians can have their own opinions but Dutt should be ready to face the punishment."

While commenting on developments in national politics, Hazare said, "we had been alleging that the Union Government misuses CBI for its political purpose and it is evident from the CBI raids on establishments and businesses of Stalin soon after the DMK withdrew its support to the UPA Government. The raids cannot be termed as co-incidental. More over the nexus between small regional political parties creates hindrance in the development of the nation and it is also evident from this example".

While refusing to join Aam Aadmi Party's agitation led by Arvind Kejriwal, Hazare said that he would not join any political agitation but reach out to people of the country.
