Baramati Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule assured full support to Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) in their signature campaign to press the anti-superstitions bill.

Sule signed the first letter to launch the campaign on Tuesday at Mahatma Phule National Memorial in Mahatma Phule Peth.

MANS aims at sending atleast 14,000 letters to the chief minister through the campaign. MANS founder and executive president Narendra Dabholkar, noted actor Shriram Lagoo, writer critic RG Jadhav, Vidya Bal and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jaidev Gaikwad were also present at the launch of the campaign.

“NCP has already made its stand clear and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar has publicly supported the anti-superstitions bill,” said Sule, adding that she would be accompanying Dabholkar under the leadership of Ajit Pawar to meet the chief minister.

Dabholkar said, “The bill was listed five times in the legislative assembly session but could never come for discussion may be because the chief minister wanted consensus.”
He added, “Now that the warkari organisations have agreed for the new draft and there is no opposition from the Shiv Sena and the BJP, it is the right time to pass the bill.”
