Over 17 days have passed since additional director general of police of the state PP Pandey went missing but Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made no headway in its hunt. According to sources, information on extension of his leave too had not been communicated to the home department.

The team questioned some close aides of Pandey in last few days to get the information about his whereabouts. Sources familiar with the development said that the CBI teams had been continuously camping at his hideouts in Gujarat, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

His arrest warrant was issued by the special CBI court last week. Sources said that a few close aides, including relatives, of Pandey were also reportedly questioned more than once by CBI sleuths in last few days. However, so far there has been no development in the case.

Pandey was allegedly in Delhi for some time last week and then visited his home town in UP. CBI officials will now get the list of his call details.

Pandey was posted as joint commissioner of police in Detection of Crime Branch when Ishrat Jahan, Pranesh Pillai alias Javed Sheikh, Amjad Ali and Zeeshan Johar were killed in a staged encounter in June 2004.
