After a dismal show in admitting 25% poor students in private schools as per the Right to Education (RTE) Act this year, the state government has now decided to set its own house in order.

Almost 50%-60% government schools are not up to the mark in the state, admitted a Mantralaya official.
Focusing on three fronts, the department wants to upgrade the quality of education in government schools by training 15,000 teachers of the nearly 67,000 schools (from classes 1 to 8) under its ambit.
Sanjay Deshmukh, special project director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the state in-charge of the RTE Act, said, “We want to focus on other aspects of RTE now. Training of teachers is one of them. This will upgrade the teaching skills and inculcate innovation to enhance the quality of education, which is a major aspect of RTE.”
Inclusive education under the RTE, which insists that slow learners and challenged children be taught together, needs special training to teachers to ensure they devise interesting methods to impart knowledge to them.
The department will also revise the curriculum from classes 1 to 8, which is a mandatory clause for inclusive education under the RTE Act. “It will be done gradually and will take time as besides RTE, it has to be in sync with the class 9 and 10 syllabus, which has already been revised in line of the CBSE curriculum,” said Deshmukh.
