After several months of investigating the Tulsi Prajapati case, the Central Bureau of Investigation has moved a step ahead. The agency will begin recording statements as well as arrest the accused in the case.

The CBI is banking on the connection between this and the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. Sources near to the development told DNA that ground work for both the cases has already been done as they are interconnected.

Sources also said that Gujarat police who were involved in investigation of the Tulsi Prajapati case may also be called for questioning. “Discrepancies have been found between the actual investigation conducted by the CBI and the one by the Gujarat police. Hence, the agency may question some cops,” a source told DNA.

Sources also said that the Tulsi encounter case which is been investigated by Binay Kumar and supervised by RP Agarwal will very soon witness actual investigation.

However, staff crunch and absence of a proper office to work from seem to be hindering the investigating agency’s work. “The agency is currently going through severe staff crunch. It also does not have a proper office from where it can conduct its investigations,” the source said. The CBI is currently investigating four major fake encounter cases, one of which involves former BJP home minister Amit Shah as an accused.
Tulsi Prajapati was killed in a fake encounter in Banaskantha.
