Two policemen from the city special branch were caught peeping into the house of Jagruti Pandya, the widow of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya. The cops were caught by Jagruti herself at her bungalow.

Both the cops confessed to having kept a watch on Jagruti's movement and the people coming to meet her. Her advocate has slapped a notice on the police department and the state home minister for allegedly spying on Jagruti.

The two cops were identified as Laxman Solanki, an assistant sub inspector, and Hari Solanki, a head constable, both of the special branch.

Both the cops, when asked by the local people about their intention to spy on the house, said that they had got a clear brief to keep a watch on Jagruti. "The cops have given in writing that they had been asked to see where Jagruti goes, what she does, who are the people who meet her, and all her activities," a source close to the development said.

These two cops from the special branch of the city police commissionerate were caught on September 21 at 10:00 pm by the locals. "The cops said that they were just following the brief from their seniors," the source said.

Talking to DNA, Jagruti said that she was shocked to see this. "Why would they want to keep a watch on me? I am not a criminal," she said. I told them to sit inside the house and asked for their identity cards. "They showed their identity cards and later said that they were briefed to keep a watch on my activities," she said.

Talking to DNA, Jagruti's advocate Bhadrish Raju said that the cops were trying to invade the privacy of Jagruti. Raju has slapped a notice on the city police commissioner, director-general of police and the state home department in this connection.

"Ever since she has made the application seeking re-investigation in her husband's murder case, policemen in plainclothes are either posted outside her house or they check her movements," the notice said. The notice seeks to know under whose instructions this illegal activity of surveillance is being carried out at Jagruti's house, Raju said.
