Dianping Releases First Mobile Lifestyle Report, Showing Mobile Apps Exceed PC Apps in Terms of Daily Views

SHANGHAI, July 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- With the rapid development of the smart apps sector, the Chinese mobile Internet market has entered a period of rapid growth. According to the first mobile lifestyle report recently released by China's leading local platform which connect people with local businesses, Dianping, daily views of Dianping's mobile apps have shown explosive growth, exceeding those of its PC apps, which also maintained steady growth. Views of Dianping's mobile apps have grown over 100 times since early 2010, with the number of its mobile apps' unique users jumping over 110 times, according to data from Dianping.

In addition, the demand is increasing as pharmacies, banks, parks, Internet bars, cinemas, gas stations, nail salons and table games, among others, are becoming the most commonly used search keywords in some cities, which reflects the diverse characters of mobile lifestyle.

The report also showed that with the addition of a large number of high-end users, Dianping mobile apps' male user base continues to expand although females now still dominate the company's user base. Information search and having access to discounts remain the two core needs of mobile lifestyle. Over 70 percent of Dianping mobile apps' users prefer to use the three functions: keyword search, neighboring businesses search and group buying.

The report also indicated that iPhone and Android users have different consumer preferences in China. iPhone users prefer an elegant and romantic lifestyle, while Android users prefer a more common lifestyle. As a result, iPhone and Android users showed differences in per capita expenditures on restaurants. When searching restaurants via Dianping mobile apps, 53.68 percent of iPhone users choose more than 80 yuan (approx US$13) per capita, while 46.09 percent of Android users choose less than 50 yuan (approx US$8).

In addition, the mobile lifestyle report by Dianping revealed consumer similarities and differences in China's 23 cities based on neighboring businesses search via its mobile platform.
