We have been encouraged by progress on the business agenda in the most recent bilateral talks, and during Vice President Joseph Biden's visit to China last year. We hope that as China seeks more innovative and sustainable economic growth, the government will focus anew on market reforms to improve access, deepen intellectual property protection, and ensure that all companies in China, whether foreign or domestic, private or state-owned, enjoy similar competitive opportunities. We welcome the strong growth in US exports to China, and in Chinese foreign direct investment in the US. Vice President Xi's visit will provide an important impetus to deepen our commercial and other ties.
