Why motor insurance claim could be rejected

Other than the regular exclusions in your motor insurance policy, your claim could get rejected for any of the following reasons too: 

  • If the driver is not carrying a valid drivers licence at the time of accident
     
  • Drinking and Driving
     
  • Registration Certificate and Policy document detail mismatch - ownership name, fuel type, engine/chassis number, 
     
  • No Claim Bonus falsification
     
  • Multiple and accumulated damages (old damages not covered)
     
  • Consequential damage - For example, if engine oil is leaking and the car engine gets damaged 
     
  • Water logging in the engine unless you have engine protector add-on cover 
     
  • Rodent bite - rats chewing your wires because of which the car parts get damaged
     
  • Damage during car rally - if the vehicle participates in a car race using a normal motor policy. In this case the owner has to inform the insurance company where insurance company has to agree
