Petrol, diesel prices touch new all-time high on Wednesday, petrol crosses Rs 100/litre for first time in Bhopal

This is the seventh increase in prices since May 4, when the state-owned oil firms ended an 18-day gap in rate revision observed during the elections.

Petrol and diesel prices were hiked for the third straight day this week, touching a fresh record of all-time highs across the metros on Wednesday. After the country's largest fuel retailer Indian Oil Corporation hiked the prices for the third straight day, petrol price saw an increase by 25 paise per litre and diesel price saw a hike by 25 paise per litre.

This is the seventh increase in prices since May 4, when the state-owned oil firms ended an 18-day gap in rate revision observed during the Assembly elections. The new changes in fuel prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day.

The state-run oil marketing companies including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum align the rates of domestic fuel with the global crude oil prices by taking into account changes in the foreign exchange rates.

So far this month, petrol price has increased by Rs 1.65 per litre and diesel has climbed by Rs 1.88 in New Delhi.

Statewise petrol and diesel price

Following the latest price revision, petrol in Delhi is now retailing at Rs 92.05 a litre while diesel is selling at Rs 82.61.

In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol price now stands at Rs 98.36 while diesel costs Rs 89.75

Petrol price in Kolkata today stands at Rs 92.16 per litre whereas the price of diesel is Rs 85.45 per litre.

In Chennai petrol is selling at Rs 93.84 per litre whereas diesel is being sold at Rs 87.49 per litre.

Petrol in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal today breached the Rs 100-mark for the first time ever costing Rs 100.08 while diesel is priced at 90.95.

In Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar petrol price rose to Rs 102.96, while diesel here is available at Rs 95.33 per litre. 

In Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur, petrol now costs Rs 102.66 per litre and diesel is selling for Rs 93.33.

In Maharashtra's Parbhani district, petrol currently costs Rs 100.74 a litre while diesel is retailing at Rs 90.67.
