Bright and beautiful
It's touted as a major discovery of much significance. Beauty and brains do go together, after all, says a research study called Why Beautiful People Are More Intelligent conducted by Satoshi Kanazawa of the London School of Economics and Jody Kovar of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The pair has used their brains and their detecting skills to back up their basic premise. And they found that "Our contention that beautiful people are more intelligent is purely scientific (logical and empirical)."

But along the way, they also came up with the statistics to show that aggressive men are the most likely to achieve high status and to mate with beautiful babes; aggressive men are the most likely to have aggressive children, and beautiful babes are the most likely to have beautiful babies. Which concludes that beautiful people are generally more aggressive.

Butt naturally!
Marco Materazzi managed to create a bang when he caused former France football team captain Zinedane Zidane to butt him violently in the chest after making a comment that was, for a long time, shrouded in the darkness of speculation...until Zidane told all. A hit song, video games and ads followed, blowing the incident onto billboards all over the world. Now Materazzi plans to publish a book of 249 phrases that he could have said to the erstwhile midfielder that made him erupt during his final match.

The book, called What I Really Said To Zidane, has been written about by Materrazi in his column for a popular Italian sports newspaper. It will be 100 pages long and will show off the extent of the Italian defender's imagination and sense of humour. What he actually said that day will also be part of the collection. "Hey! Where exactly is the sternum?" and "Zinedine, what are you up to? You haven't lost yet....and you've already shaved your head!" will be part of the mix. Proceeds from the sale of the book (priced at around 10 euros) will be donated to Unicef.

It is the iftar season in Delhi, when the tradition of breaking the fast during Ramzan is nicely tweaked to become an excuse to meet, greet and eat in gardens, on rooftops and in posh hotel rooms all over the capital. This is also the way the political class reaches out to the minorities. Political alliances and strategic friendships are discussed and formed over dishes of kebabs and biryanis.

Getting Sonia Gandhi to a party is considered a coup, but most big parties have representatives from all parties. The season kicked off with a double-do by minister of state for external affairs, E Ahmed -- one night for governmental biggies, the other for the press.
