City’s first-ever Metro Rail project may skip even the 2012 deadline. Rajendra Aklekar walks along the corridor, from Ghatkopar to Andheri, for a reality-check of the multi-crore project. The 11.40-km double line elevated viaduct Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro corridor has 12 stations

Ghatkopar station
Starting at this point, one can see a multi-storeyed station building of Ghatkopar Metro Rail almost ready. The skywalk stops just short of linking it and a staircase being built to approach the station. From here, as the elevated pathway starts and stops just a few metres as pillars are yet being built and one can see iron rods protruding. Only once these pillars are built will the pathway be laid and linked.
