Freeze-framing Mumbai's moods
Published: Thursday, Jul 29, 2010 on 16:12 IST

A city speaks through its images. Precisely so, a vibrant metropolis like Mumbai risks being swamped by a smörgåsbord of colours... unless there are people who can sort through the pattern and pick the unusual bits. These people are DNA’s photojournalists, who have won universal acclaim for capturing priceless moments of the city through 16mm lenses. Their pictures speak more than a thousand words...

Hand of Death
This picture of a man digging out the body of a landslide victim at Dasgaon village, Raigad, was the front page picture of DNA’s first edition on July 30, 2005. Torrential rains triggered a landslide at Dasgaon on July 25, 2005, which claimed 45 lives. The army had to be deployed in the neighbouring Jui village, where 100 people were feared trapped in a landslip.
