Youth gets rigorous imprisonment for attempted rape

The victim was staying with her father, mother, stepmother and two brothers. On the day of incident, when the victim’s family members were away, the convict lured the victim to his house and attempted to rape her.

The court of the principal district and sessions judge Anant Badar on Wednesday awarded three and a half years’ rigorous imprisonment to a 28-year-old youth for attempting to rape a physically challenged,  minor girl.

The incident had taken place at the convict, Raju alias Bhagya Dharma Shivsharan’s house in Balajinagar slum in Bhosari on February 19, 2009.

According to the charge sheet filed by the prosecution, Shivsharan was the neighbour of the victim. The victim was staying with her father, mother, stepmother and two brothers. On the day of incident, when the victim’s family members were away, the convict lured the victim to his house and attempted to rape her. Luckily, for the girl, her father arrived after he heard her screaming and rescued her.  The girl narrated the incident to her family and Shivsharan was arrested on  February 20, 2009.

Additional public prosecutor Ujwala Pawar examined a total six witnesses and the statement of the victim was instrumental in the judgment.

Man beaten to death 
Ganesh Govind Gaikude (26), a resident of Ambegaon, Haveli is suspected to have been killed by the trio of Pradip Suresh Kale, Atul Kale and  Narayan Shedge.

According to the Pune rural police, the murder took place because Gaikude is supposed to have tried to molest the wife of one of the trio.  According to senior inspector Shivaji Devkar, the trio allegedly beat up Gaikude with sticks on Monday night. “We have filed a case of murder. We have arrested the trio and are investigating the case,’’  Devkar said.

Two youths  murdered in Shirdi
Two people were found murdered and thrown on a road in Shirdi on Wednesday morning, creating tension in the
temple town.  The two youths, Pravin Gondkar (25) and Sandeep Patani (22), were found in a badly beaten state lying half naked in front of Pushpanjali Hotel in Pimpalwadi area about 2 km east of the Saibaba temple.

While Pravin is the  son of Vilas Gondkar working at the Saibaba temple, Sandeep is a son of a local journalist and was known to be his friend.  Sources said it could be a case of enmity between the duo and some locals. Even as the police filed a case, the family and friends of the two deceased were in state of shock and refused to accept the bodies after the post-mortem. A rasta roko was staged in Shirdi, demanding transfer of the local
police officer.
