Apparently frustrated by the police’s alleged inability to curb the rising incidents of chain snatching and other crimes against women, around 15 members of a self-help group on Saturday took out a morcha and submitted a memorandum at the Nigdi police station.

The members of Mrugnayani Mahila Mandal, Nigdi-Pradhikaran, submitted a petition to the police sub-inspector Rajaram Malvadkar.

Nalawade said incidents such as chain snatching are escalating. “In some incidents, women were beaten up by suspects while robbing them,” she said, reminding about a recent incident, where a woman was beaten up and had to be hospitalised.
