Woman killed by ‘robber’ on train

In a shocking incident, a 65-year-old woman, who came to Mumbai with her grandsons from Allahabad to attend a wedding at Nallasopara, was found in pool of blood in the ladies unreserved compartment of Kamayani Express at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) at Kurla on Saturday night.

“The deceased was identified as Nanku Lal Mohammed Siddique. She sustained injuries on her neck and left hand. Her body was sent to Rajawadi Hospital for a post mortem,” said senior police inspector Dilip Gore, Kurla railway police station and added that the railway police have registered a case of murder and robbery as Rs2,500 was missing.

Nanku Siddique and her grandson, Mohammed Imran Siddique, 19 boarded the ladies unreserved compartment from Allahabad on Friday. When the train reached Thane at 10.20pm on Saturday, all the passengers alighted. Only Nanku and Imran Siddique were left. At that time, an unidentified man boarded the train and approached Imran.

He threatened Imran in Hindi, “You have to pay Rs500 fine for travelling in the ladies compartment. Go to the adjoining general compartment.” Imran then changed his compartment. When the train reached LLT at 11 pm, Imran rushed to the ladies unreserved compartment to find that his grandmother in a pool of blood.

He then informed the railway cops patrolling the platform  and a case was registered.
