An Omanese national was arrested on Sunday by officers of the Gamdevi police station for allegedly beating up his wife at her parents’ home.

Deepti Saras Ruparel, 40, the victim, and her husband, Saras Pravinchand Ruparel, 42, used to live and work in Muscat, the police said. In 2006, they bought a flat in Thakur Complex, Kandivli, and shifted to Mumbai. Soon after that, differences cropped up between the two as Saras started suspecting Deepti’s character. She shifted to her parents’ home at Annex Apartments in Gamdevi, along with her two daughters — one 11-year-old and the other, seven.

That, however, did not deter Saras from turning up at his in-laws’ place and bash up
his wife in front of their daughters, Deepti said in her complaint.

Senior inspector Sanjay Diwadkar of Gamdevi police station said, “Following her differences with Saras, Deepti, along with her daughters, shifted to her parents’ home. But Saras frequently came to his in-laws place to beat up his wife.”
