With the untimely wet spell taking a break, Mumbaikars are sweating as the temperature is rising.

While the maximum temperature in the city on Wednesday stood at 33.5 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature rose to 25.3 degree Celsius.

The mean maximum temperature during October usually stands at 32 degree Celsius, while the mean minimum temperature hovers at 24 degree Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light showers if the temperature soars again.

Mumbai has been experiencing sudden rainfall since last week.
Santa Cruz has received 120mm of rainfall this October, while Colaba has received 66mm of rainfall.

“Sudden rainfall is normal when monsoon is in a transition from north-west monsoon to post-monsoon. This type of activity is called convective phenomenon. As temperature soars, higher are the chances of such sudden rainfall,” explained VK Rajeev, IMD director of the Western Region.

The IMD is soon likely to announce the end of monsoon.

“The humidity level needs to support the rainfall. If this form of weather continues, we might soon announce the end of monsoon for this season,” said another IMD official.
