The temperature in the city will continue to fluctuate in the days to come.

After the city witnessing its lowest temperature this winter, it is set to rise by two degrees according to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) officials in the following days before it falls down further.

The temperature as on Sunday was recorded lowest at Santa Cruz, which stood at 12.7 degrees Celsius.

“The cold wave has started moving eastwards in its normal pattern of the wind movement. The city and western part of Maharashtra will witness a rise in temperature of about two degrees in the following days due to this. Low temperature will prevail in areas such as Nashik and Vidarbha. Periodically, some sort of wave propagates in the globe and whenever there is a slight diversion, we see a drop or rise in the temperature. City temperature changed due to these waves. Mostly the drop in temperature depends on the cold waves from the north. The temperature though will fall again due to the cold waves from the north,” said RV Sharma, deputy director of the IMD.

The temperature in the north has been falling consistently, with some areas such as Srinagar, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh witnessing snowfall in certain areas. “We can, however, not say that the city has already seen its lowest temperature. It may drop further due to the cold waves. The sky, meanwhile, will remain clear as the temperature rises in the city,” added Sharma.
