We will not rest till we get the 26/11 attackers, says PM

Prime minister Manmohan Singh made a solemn commitment on the first anniversary of the Mumbai attacks to keep the pressure on Pakistan to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We will never forget the grief and anguish the people of Mumbai have suffered,” Singh told a press conference in Washington on Wednesday.

“The government will not rest till we have brought the perpetrators of this crime to justice. We have taken up the matter with all the force at our command with the government of Pakistan,” added Singh.

A Pakistani anti-terror court on Wednesday framed charges against Lashkar-e-Taiba’s operations commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and six others for involvement in the Mumbai attacks and declared 16 people, including Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, as proclaimed offenders.

“It is the obligation of Pakistan to try and punish the masterminds of the attack and their supporters. The infrastructure of terrorism and safe havens has to be dismantled,” said Singh in response to the latest development.

During his visit to Washington, Singh and president Barack Obama agreed to share more intelligence and bring together Indian and American law enforcement agencies in an effort to prevent such attacks in future. “We have taken several measures to strengthen our security and intelligence system,” he said.
