Mumbaikars can heave a sigh of relief as the four-day water cut comes to an end tomorrow since the local civic body intends to finish the pipeline repair work by afternoon.

Residents of south Mumbai and western suburbs face water cuts from Monday to Thursday as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be replacing the Tansa (East) and Tansa (West) water main pipeline with a tunnel from Marol to Ruparel (Mahim).

"Earlier it was expected that the repair work will get over by tomorrow night, but now it is likely to finish by 3pm. So water supply will resume from 10pm tomorrow," an official from the Hydraulic Department of the BMC said.

Besides affecting the residents, the water cut also slowed down functioning in the hospitals, where some surgeries and operations were postponed.
