The winter chill seems to have left the city as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune, has predicted that the mercury will rise over the next 2-3 days.

According to the IMD, there have been fluctuations in the weather in the last week, and the cloudy weather is adding to the woes. The Met department has, therefore, warned that the maximum and the minimum temperatures would sore resulting in warmer days and nights.

IMD director for weather, Sunita Devi, said that there is a cloud cover over the city due to the trough in the westerly wind which is interacting with the south westerly wind from the Bay of Bengal.
“The westerly wind from Bay of Bengal carries moisture. The interaction between westerly wind and south west winds is leading to cloud formation. This is leading to rise in temperature. Land heating is further adding to it,” Sunita Devi said.
However, she said that citizens should not expect any rainfall.
The maximum temperature in the city on Tuesday was 32 degree Celsius which is 2 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 13.5 degrees which is again 2 degrees more than normal.
The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be between 33 and 14 degrees. The maximum temperature was above normal by 1 or 2 degrees in almost all the cities in the state on Tuesday. The all India news bulletin says that rain and snow would occur at few places in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, while mildly dry weather would prevail in most part of the country.
In the last week, night temperatures were markedly above normal in Marathwada, Vidarbha and Central Maharashtra.
